Hubner Silage Hybrids

Unlock the Secret

The Milk Max Silage Research™ program is a groundbreaking endeavor to determine a dairyman’s true profit potential from forages.

Fueled by participating dairy producers across the country, Milk Max tabulates real, on-farm silage performance data to zero in on the brands, numbers and characteristics that maximize milk output and silage value.

Harvest 2006 marked the first year for Milk Max, and research results are available to you courtesy of Hubner, the program’s sponsor, and Analab, the independent laboratory conducting the silage sample analyses.

Now in its fourth year, Milk Max is again working with a population of dairy farmers to gather more silage sample information and further augment its overall research results.

The Big Questions

During the 1990s, the dairy industry identified high fiber digestibility as the real key to maximizing milk production. But in the last few years, further research and the firsthand experiences of dairy farmers are beginning to generate new questions.

The yield drag on high fiber digestibility products can be a tough sacrifice to make. Isn’t there some way to get more milk per ton without losing a yield advantage?

Do the current BMR corn products that are available really provide the highest quality silage (milk per ton) to justify the premium price on the seed?

Shouldn’t dairy producers be getting more than three years’ production out of a cow?

These and other questions are the driving force behind the Milk Max Silage Research™ Program.
